The movie Love Comes Softly is Christian drama movie, and the story is based on a series of books written by Janette Oke. It has been shown for the first time on Hallmark Channel back in the 2003. The movie was directed by Michael London Jr. and the star of the movie was Ketherine Higl, which in the movie plays the character named Marty Claridge. The movie “Love Comes Softly” is the first television movie shown on Hallmark which is directed by the book. This movie covers deep cultural and theological themes, making it a great movie for both male and female audience.
As mentioned above, the movie “Love Comes Softly” is based on a series of best-selling books by Janette Oke. Originally, the book was published in 1979 and has sold more than 30 million copies. The film is a story of young women named Marty Claridge, who with her husband Aaron are trying to start a new life in a new city. But very soon, their dream becomes a nightmare, when her husband dies and she suddenly finds herself a window. With no roof over her head, and no financial resources, she needs to decide where to spend the cold winter.
On the day of the funeral of her husband, Marty receives a marriage proposition from Clark Davis, a soft spoken widower. He suggests she marries him to be the mother to his baby girl. This way she will have where to live during the winter, and Missie, Clark’s daughter, will have a someone caring and looking after her. When spring comes, Marty will be free to leave the family and the house if she wants. Marty with broken heart agrees to stay for six months with Missie and Clark. During those six months, Marty learns the true nature of love as she tries hard to start a new life while mourning the old one.
The screenplay of the movie “Love Comes Softly” allows the two actors to express their roles perfectly. Through the movie, Clark and Marty become figures which the viewers genuinely like to see together. The only negative side of this movie lies in a distinct sense of preachiness that comes at the end, as Clark talks about the value of the prayer and faith. The movie “Love Comes Softly” is a kind of movie that will helplessly wrap you in, despite the cliche nature of the storyline.
