Ah, home sweet home! I’ve been bitten by the travelling bug long enough to get my share of exciting trips through breathtaking sites, getting acquainted with different cultures though no matter how much I liked soaking up all that vividness, I still longed to go back home. Then again, once back at home, it doesn’t take long for the urge for some change of scenery to appear. As much as it is about getting to know more of the world, it’s also that I find my interior rather dull, and yet not having enough money left aside for an actual makeover leaves my hands tied – or so I thought.
Being lucky to have a painter aunt, I’ve always had colour around me and it was one of the floral paintings she gave me that inspired me to want to bring more of the freshness of flowers in my living area. After not finding the rug, armchair or lighting fixtures that would catch my eye, I was amazed to find that exactly in a sofa, and not just any kind but a floral patchwork! Who would have thought sofas could be so much of accent pieces, but considering they are the focal point of a room it’s no wonder. I couldn’t believe how decorative mine turned out to be, and brought all the sparkle in my living room.
With so many varieties of sofas that shops have for sale, I’m sure you can find your multi-stylish one too. The older one I’d disposed of was rather small, and this one is just right to provide all the comfort as well as style. It’s helped me find ways of decorating I hadn’t thought of before, for instance play with the colours and patterns of cushions, covers made of different materials and what not. The sofa is the ace up my sleeve whenever I want to change the dynamics of my interior décor. Now I have the chance to invite the smoothness of neutrals by getting long covers in neutral hues, and I also get to play with materials. My travels inspired me to use unique tribal and ethno prints and colours, and a whole asset of materials for the covers, not just cotton, but linen and wool as well.
It’s fun when I get to see the ending result, it feels as if getting a complete living room makeover and I often chuckle when I have friends over for a cup of coffee and they ask if I’ve been shopping new furniture because it looks that much different to them. When I hear that, it makes me love my sofa all the more.
