Your Day’s Fable Begins on the Coffee Table (A Suggestion Bliss you Don’t Wanna Miss)

Do you know why the morning coffee and the ritual of preparing and taking it is so important? Have you ever thought about how something like a morning coffee can make your day, or completely ruin it? It’s because when we wake up, all cranky, sleepy and hating everything and everyone because it’s 6 in the morning, nothing opens our eyes and puts that shy, apologizing smile on our faces like the smell of coffee. It’s no coincidence that the famous quote that has found its way on every coffee mug these days says: “But first, coffee”.

Since coffee is such a wondrous drink, it most definitely deserves to be taken in an ambiance that’s going to be in accordance with all the magic it creates. That means, if you have to take your coffee standing over the messy kitchen counter, or not having where to put your cup on the coffee table in the living room, you really are doomed. Your brain will start working like crazy thinking why is there such a mess in the house and in an instant, you’ll be nervous and cranky again. Coffee doesn’t work that way; you can’t just drink it, you have to fully enjoy it.

Knowing this, some people have morning coffee corners in their homes; places with a comfy, large chair or a sofa and one small coffee table next to it facing a window so all the morning sunlight can enter and spread positivity. Pure delight. However, not all people have the privilege of space, so your next best option is to make your living room a morning-coffee-ritual friendly place. Your starting point should be looking for one of those gorgeous-looking, décor-inspiring, contemporary coffee tables. After all, the coffee table is the second main character here, right?

The right coffee table

Contemporary coffee tables look modern, very new-age, sort to say. They’re all practical, spacious and trendy. That means when searching for one, you’ll come across some tables that are large and massive with drawers underneath, and then some that are totally minimal in their design; something for all interior design schemes. The right coffee table from such a vast and diversified palette would be the one that complements your sofas and chairs, room space and overall ambiance in material, size and colour. For example, a living room designed in modern style would benefit largely from a contemporary coffee table made of either classy wood or glass and shining stainless steel legs.

Coffee tableDecorate the coffee table

When you sit to take your morning coffee (or a cup of coffee at any time of the day), you want to have ambiance on the table. You want to see beautiful décor, spotless arrangement of flowers, candles or magazines. Or all of them! Some people keep a set for flavouring their coffee – sugar, cinnamon or vanilla. If you like this idea, make sure you get the right canisters – don’t use whatever you find in your kitchen – you’ll ruin the table décor. My personal favourite are scented candles in all sizes placed on a round metal tray; I find them the type of decoration that can complement almost any type and design of coffee table. I also like a nice flower arrangement in the middle since it gives the room a dose of freshness and colour, especially if the room is designed in the black and white Scandinavian style.

tableFinally, love your coffee time

It’s not called coffee time just because you get to drink a cup of coffee while you do something else – that’s what you do at work. At home, coffee is part of your leisure time, when you grab the latest issue of Vogue magazine, put on some light jazz and sit comfortably in your sofa for a quality hour of relaxation and reflection on your thoughts. So, love your coffee; it gives you a reason to have some rest during a busy day.
